------ Planning for a Portrait Session

What to expect in your photo session----
Your photo session can be almost anything that you want it to be.
What I hope to do in the photo session is to capture in images some of your strongest characteristics - the traits that everybody identifies as you..

What if I can't pose well?
Not to worry! I think only a small number of people can pose naturally and easily without assistance.
Normally, we'll start with some of your ideas and maybe adjust head and body positions and angles slightly to get attractive photo positions.
Sometimes, if I see something that could work well, I may suggest a pose; if you don't like it we'll move on to other ideas.

Sometimes, we may even do a series of photos that the process will resemble candids if there happens to be a natural flow to the posing. This style is fairly common on active younger children.

You may have ideas how you want the photo to appear.
We'll certainly talk about your ideas and try to incorporate them into the session where ever we can. We will try to get different moods in the finished photos.

Outfit changes?
You'll probably want to limit the outfit changes so much of the time isn't spent in changing. Also consider the progression - for intance, it will be a real challenge to get good formal photos after we've gone for an informal windblown look.

How about props?
Certainly you can use props. We want these photos to express you. Often props around you can convey the message perfectly.

Can friends or family members be part of the photos?
They most certainly can be. Part of our goal is to create variety and photos that you like.

How about animals?
As long as they're house broken. Or we can move the photo site to where the animals will look natural (a large animal might not fit through the door).

Can we take photos at different locations?
I have equipment that is very portable. In selecting the different location, be consider the backgrounds and lighting at the time we'll be photographing.
Of course, some of the above photos are "imagination" creations - multiple photos joined together in the computer. To see more or larger images at the special projects page .
